In The Beginning

When Prehistoric Pets originally opened its doors as Pet Country in 1988, our mission was to provide both traditional and exotic pets to the public. As our customer base grew, we took the opportunity to shift our focus to education with exotic reptiles from around the globe.

IN 1997 WE EXPANDED FURTHER CREATING JURASSIC PARTIES WHOSE GOAL IS TO FURTHER THE PUBLIC’S UNDERSTANDING AND RESPECT FOR REPTILES THROUGH INTERACTIVE EDUCATIONAL EVENTS.

In 2009 The Reptile Zoo concept was born with an inventive set-up that was the first of its kind. Our goal is to further the public’s understanding and respect for the amazing creatures who call The Reptile Zoo home. Designed by founder Jay Brewer, the aim was to create a zoo-like atmosphere with the “build it and they will come” philosophy and it proved correct as even more new customers started visiting the store solely to observe exotic reptiles, many of which were not displayed at even the largest of zoos.

FOR NEARLY 25 YEARS WE HAVE CONTINUED TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY WITH JURASSIC PARTIES. OFFERING TO DATE OVER 20,000 EDUCATIONAL INTERACTIVE EVENTS THAT ARE BOTH FUN AND MEANINGFUL FOR ALL GUESTS ACROSS ORANGE AND LOS ANGELES COUNTIES.

Today, we have many well-trained animal educators that go to homes, schools, parks, businesses and more sharing our knowledge and experience with people of all ages. With the expansion of The Reptile Zoo we can offer even more immersive on-site experiences where guests can enjoy over 100 zoo quality exhibits including Alligators, Rattlesnakes, Snapping Turtles and more.

Your presenter creates an outrageously fun, exciting and educational experience that you and your guests will NOT forget. You can join in the hands-on fun or just stand back, watch, and learn! The presentation is full of incredible photo opportunities and concludes with a group photo with our large python, memories that will last a lifetime! So have your camera ready!

Because of his early start in the industry and childlike passion founder Jay Brewer has the unique and time-tested experience to be the go-to resource to reptile enthusiasts of all types and inspire a generation.

Thirty years later Prehistoric Inc. is still comprised of reptile enthusiasts from all walks of life, most of which have been with the company for over 5 years, some more than 15. Each member of the 20-person team, including several members of the Brewer family, have their unique passion which perfectly complements each other for a well-rounded group that knows the value of teamwork. While in Fountain Valley Prehistoric Inc. has offered a source of employment for over 100 employees and their families over the decades.
